Gone For Now

This is my last post for the next three and a half weeks. I'll be stirring shit up in Korea then China until the 20th. Thus I thought it was appropriate to bombard you with four times the amount of outfit photos than I usually post.

Before I leave, I want to share some exciting information with you all. I'm opening an etsy shop selling melty bead necklaces. Most of the designs are fruits as pictured above (so far I've got a grape bunch, strawberry, watermelon slice and a banana pedant) but if when I decide that I want to be daring, I might attempt to make some animals ones as well as weird, innocuous object series (bandaid, razor blades, paper clips and such).

Tie Dye Madness

I apologize for the lack of postings lately. You see, I've been busy with band business. I've been in the studio this past couple of days, pulling 8 hour recordings and have never gotten so sick of playing the same shit over and over again. The end results however, is well worth it. Stay tuned for our first three-song EP. It should be done fairly soon.

After our successful show last Saturday, I got to thinking that perhaps, just perhaps, if all this music stuff work out eventually, I can actually see myself living out the rest of my live as a musician. I'm sure this isn't something too difficult to imagine as we all dream about becoming "rock stars". What I mean here really is that I truly love creating music and wouldn't mind doing it even if I was paid peanuts.  Maybe I won't be saying that when I'm dirt broke on tour and have to sleep in a van for a months straight and live on a bag of chips, shared among three people. All these things are possibilities, I think I'm just excited that I'm more involved with playing music than I've ever been and I'm happy.

I say Disney Land has outlived its usefulness and appeal to a person when that individual reaches his/her mid 20's. The happiest place on earth rings hollow to someone like me whose favourite place to be is her bedroom. Perhaps it's because the connotations of the bedroom allude to tranquility, safe haven, slumber and many other down-time themed concepts. To me, those things mean so much more than just having a place to rest, they are part of one's inner peace.

And what would a bedroom be if it didn't have a wicked closet...or two?

A matching dresser/bed set is always nice. If your furniture consists of mainly scraps and hand-me-downs, you can achieve having matching sets by applying the same coloured paint. This is what I did. Can you believe that dresser used to be a black filing cabinet?!

Meet Me in St. Louis

Three plane rides, numerous car trips and sixteen hours later I finally made it home from St. Louis, Missouri. The four day trip consisted of copious amount of drinking, dancing and stewing in above 30 degree heat and humidity; so all in all a good time. In the midst of partying like there's no tomorrow I realize just how lucky I am to have been surrounded by awesome people so for the first time in a long time I truly my time being away from home.
Here's something you don't know about me, I am an incredibly shy person upon first encounter and sometimes I come off as being even a little stand-offish. Thus I've always been awkward in social situations when crowds of strangers and semi-strangers are involved. However, this time it was different, I felt at ease in the company of others. This new found sensation was foreign at first then I slowly realized that maybe this is merely a sign of growing up and being able to let go of old habits. This is the dress I made for my friend's wedding I attended in St. Louis. The top is made from scratch from lace and the bottom was a trifted skirt I had recently purchased in Seattle. I meant to take some pictures of me wearing it at the wedding but like I said, there was a lot of drinking.

Looks, it's a tornado! Actually, I'm not sure what it was. My friends said it was just a plume of smoke coming out of that factory, but I say it's some sort of mist pillar. But I really just wanted to take a picture of the Mississippi river.
When I got home yesterday, I was treated with a pleasant e-mail which informed me that my blog review is up and I was also awarded the Featured Blogger badge.

I'm A Damn Good Tailor But I Can't Mend Your Split Personality

It's difficult to blog frequently (or persist with anything on a regular basis for that matter) when you're preoccupied with something much more fun. Since I've been back from my trip, I brought with me a D.I.Y. fashion lover's godsend --- a sewing machine. So for the past weekend, while everyone was out and celebrating the heat wave in Vancouver, I've been partying with my 1970's sea-foam blue Imperial sewing machine.

Since my sewing skill isn't "dress-maker" level, I've just been practicing doing small very primitive alterations like sewing an elastic band casing and attaching that casing to a shirt to make it more cinched and dress-like. While that was fun and all but by the end of the weekend I really wanted to do something bigger so I searched for some D.I.Y sewing sites for inspirations and project ideas and found this. I was a little hesitant at first, but when I remembered that I had just the shirt to play around with, I figured I had nothing to lose thus I embarked on this daunting task and ended up with this:

Not bad for a newbie sewer eh?
